David Sarkozi began birding as a teenager in Central Texas and has been an avid birder for over 45 years—still keeping his very first field guide.

A past President of the Texas Ornithological Society and longtime board member, he has led countless birding trips across Texas and organized over 30 trips to Belize through KoziBirding.com.

David’s birding achievements include two Texas Big Years (500 species in 2015, 509 in 2017) and, in 2019, birding all 254 Texas counties in one year.

Beyond birding, he enjoys cooking, craft beer, and amateur radio, where he holds an Extra Class license.

The "Birds of Texas" is BIG

614 pages, but the truth is that there is not enough space to tell the full story of the amazing birds of Texas. There are just so many interesting things that just don't fit in the format of a field guide. For example, one of the most common ducks in Texas is mostly nocturnal and just who was Rivoli and Anna of hummingbird fame and how does that connect with Bond, James Bond?
